Dr. Nix grew up in Anchorage, Alaska where she learned to love the outdoors and long summer days. She completed medical school at the University of Chicago in 2000 and moved west to Seattle, Washington, where she completed her pediatric residency at the University of Washington and served as Chief Resident.

Dr. Nix began her career in Chinle, Arizona where she lived and worked for five years in the heart of the Navajo reservation as the Chief of Pediatrics. In 2009 she moved to Bend Oregon and fell in love with the community.

Dr. Nix is passionate about caring for the Bend community, both in the office and in her advocacy work. She has volunteered for the Central Oregon Children’s Forest for the past several years and has been active in creating opportunities for children to learn to love nature. She states, “Being outside is the one of the best medicines we can teach our children. It is important to show kids that nature is a resource for their health.”

Dr. Nix enjoys all aspects of pediatric care, and is particularly interested in preventative care for all ages, including developmental screening for young children and screening adolescents for depression. In addition, she performs circumcisions and lingual frenotomy for tongue tie in infants. For older children, she performs ingrown toenail removal and skin biopsies. Dr. Nix and her two dogs can be found running the river trail or hiking the badlands year round. She can be found on summer evenings on her mountain bike or paddleboard.
