Dr. Monica Ramsey comes to us from Portland, OR with fellow internist and husband Dr. John Ramsey. She grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area before attending UCLA for her undergraduate studies in anthropology. She spent her 20’s in research, initially doing linguistic research with gorillas at the Gorilla Foundation followed by clinical neuro-psychiatric research at UCSF. It was through a love of learning and the personal connection with patients during clinical research that led her to return to school to pursue medicine. At Tulane School of Medicine she acquired her MD, a love of brass music, a husband, and the first of 2 lovely daughters. She and her husband moved to Portland for residency training at OHSU and to be closer to the Central OR Ramsey clan. For the past 13 years, the Ramsey’s have job shared while raising their kids.
Hello! Dr. John and I are so very excited to begin practicing medicine in Bend and playing in this outdoor wonderland. We are avid skiers, cyclists, music lovers … and are so happy to be home! My practice style is direct and thorough. I strive to apply best practice medicine for prevention and treatment in the context of patients’ goals and priorities. I see it as my duty to listen, educate and advocate; to help patients navigate this increasingly complex healthcare system. My goal is to help patients achieve their highest quality of life, in sickness and in health.
