Dr. Blackmon grew up in Trion, GA, a small town in rural northwest Georgia. He completed medical school at The Medical College of Georgia in 2003 after completing his undergraduate degree in biology at Berry College in 1998. After medical school, Dr. Blackmon completed his residency in family medicine at Floyd Medical Center in Rome, GA. He completed training in obesity medicine through Columbia University in 2022 and is now a diplomate of The American Board of Obesity Medicine. He obtained the prestigious Fellow of The American Academy of Family Practice in 2022.
After residency, Dr. Blackmon worked for many years as an emergency physician. After a brief, but life-changing illness in 2019, he transitioned into clinical medicine where he enjoys treating patients of all ages in the family practice setting. In addition to general family medicine, his practice interests include treatment of obesity and weight loss, diabetes management, hormone replacement, and chronic respiratory conditions. Dr. Blackmon believes that many illnesses and disease states can be prevented and/or ameliorated by maintaining healthy eating and physical activity habits. He enjoys spending time discussing healthy lifestyle development with his patients. Dr. Blackmon also has interests in the improvement and maintenance of mental health. He is experienced in the management of anxiety, depression, ADHD, and other psychiatric conditions.
Dr. Blackmon is excited to be living in Bend where he enjoys all that is available to the outdoor enthusiast. He spends much of his free time in piscatorial pursuits at the many lakes and rivers in the area. He and his wife Sonja enjoy travelling, hiking, cooking, and taking part in the various snow sports available in the Pacific Northwest.
