Michelle Hallinan, LCSW, was born and raised in the Washington D.C. area. After receiving a
Bachelor of Arts from Colorado College in 1998, she worked in foster care and for the Make-A-
Wish Foundation. In 2005, she earned a Master of Social Welfare from the University of
California, Berkeley. Following graduate school, she volunteered in Kenya at a women’s health
clinic, facilitated a support group for women living with HIV and started a girls’ empowerment
program.

In 2006, she began working for Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford. Over the next
twelve years, she worked in various inpatient units, clinics and roles with children, adolescents
and adults facing health challenges. She worked for many years with families of newborns in
the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, facilitated a support group for parents and provided follow-
up care in Infant Development Clinic. She also worked extensively with women and their
partners in the Perinatal Diagnostic Center, Obstetrics Clinic, Labor and Delivery and Maternity.

Michelle has a particular interest in women’s health issues, the journey of motherhood and
parenting at each stage of a child’s growth and development. While at Stanford, she also led
the development of a child protection program. She is licensed to practice in both California
and Oregon.

Michelle, her husband and their children moved to Bend in 2018 for easy access to the
beautiful outdoors, a smaller community and better quality of life. She was drawn to High Lakes
Health Care for their innovative approach to patient care in supporting the health, mental
health and overall well-being of their patients.
