Mark Thibert, MD

Internal Medicine, Primary Care

Dr. Thibert (“tee-bear”) is a board certified internist who joined the High Lakes Upper Mill Clinic coming by way of the Seattle area.  After completing dual degrees in Art History and Philosophy at the University of Washington, he continued at the UW School of Medicine, an experience which included a six week exchange at the prestigious West China School of Medicine, where he learned about both traditional Chinese medicine and the inner workings of modern ‘Western’ Chinese medicine.  Thereafter, he completed an internal medicine internship at Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle. His residency was completed at the University of Utah, and after graduation he joined the faculty in a clinical/teaching capacity.

Dr. Thibert has also worked for the Yakama Indian Nation. He enjoyed being exposed to new ideas and philosophies and being challenged to ‘think outside the box’ in trying to solve complex problems with limited resources.

For the past seven years, Dr. Thibert was with the Providence Medical Group in Mill Creek, Washington. He decided to move to Bend because of the wonderful people, culture and outdoor opportunities.

Dr. Thibert believes that good medicine evolves out of a partnership between the patient and the physician and is always delighted to see patients who are interested in their own health and well-being, and who take measures to support that interest; however, he understands that many people are not where we would like them to be medically, so he believes it is important to begin by meeting people where they are at and moving forward together.

He has a special interest in cardiac and pulmonary disease, and he has also pursued advanced training in arthritic conditions and joint injections both through musculoskeletal workshops at the University of Washington and also a close mentorship during his years at Indian Health.  He is happy to see both women and men for preventive care.

In his off-time, Dr. Thibert enjoys spending time with his wife, a pediatrician, and their two children. Hobbies include climbing, fly-fishing, reading, grilling, roasting coffee and preparing the perfect cup of espresso.  He is especially fond of studying Mandarin with his two year-old daughter and playing board games with his son.
