Born in Portland, Oregon, Dr. Mark Hughes grew up with his family in a small community in northwestern Missouri. After undergraduate studies, he attended medical school at Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine – A.T. Still University, and went on to complete his residency and board certification in Family Medicine at Sun Coast Hospital in Largo, Florida.

While practicing in Florida, Dr. Hughes had the opportunity to serve as a clinical instructor to medical students and residents, and has drawn from this experience a compassion for education. He believes that one of the most important roles as a family practitioner is the opportunity to educate and equip patients to both understand and take charge of their own health.

With a family of three and a surgeon for a wife, Dr. Hughes has found that his Faith, family, and then career can be thoroughly enjoyed when kept in that order. He enjoys being involved in his church community, and in his spare time loves bowling, the occasional golf game when he isn’t acting as caddy for his son, and is hoping to learn to fly fish here in Central Oregon
