Katryn grew up in Southern Oregon and attended college at Multnomah University in Portland where she focused on education and families. After graduation she began working at a residential treatment facility for teenagers impacted by substance use, trauma, and significant mental health issues. She realized her passion for supporting others and made the decision to attend graduate school to become a social worker. Katryn moved across the country to attend Smith College School for Social Work in Massachusetts and completed internships working with children and families in central Massachusetts and at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina.
Following graduation, Katryn returned to residential care for those impacted by trauma and mental health issues. Over the next 10 years, she worked with children and adults of all ages in a variety of settings, including emergency psychiatry, outpatient counseling, residential care, and most recently as a Behavioral Health Consultant in a pediatrics practice in Southeastern Massachusetts. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with the Oregon Board of Licensed Social Workers.
Katryn is passionate about being a support to others as they are finding and reaching goals, whether that be in relationships, mental health, personal identity, breaking down barriers, or any other area of life. She enjoys working in a primary care setting and believes that mental and physical health are tied closely together. Katryn’s aim is to support others as they find the skills and resources to help them thrive.
After having children, Katryn and her husband made the decision to move to Bend to be near family in an area with easy access to the outdoors and all of the opportunities central Oregon offers. She enjoys hiking, being near the water, and reading a good book with an iced coffee.
